Mitch ‘M-Pyre’ Pfeifer got his start in music mixing on a cassette deck in middle school. Growing up in the small town of Ellensburg, WA before the internet was what it is today, M-Pyre learned about music at the local record store and raiding his parents music collection. He soon gravitated towards soul, finding a love in The Four Tops, Tower of Power, Marvin Gaye, and many others. Early in high school M-Pyre began to sell skateboards out of his trunk while washing dishes at a local restaurant saving up for an Akai MPC. “The moment I got my MPC, I quit my job and it was over,” Mitch recalls. Growing up in a small country town, M-Pyre had to teach himself just about everything pertaining to production, recording, sampling, and hip-hop in general. By the end of high school he had produced a single for Universal recording artist, Dramills that generated buzz on the East coast and opened up the door to further opportunities.
M-Pyre dropped out of Central Washington University after his sophomore year to pursue music full time in Portland, OR but legal issues and the financials hardships of being a full-time musician brought him back to finish school a year and a half later. Once he started up his coursework again, PNW music and lifestyle website Respect My Region as a way to generate more income at the events he hosted. In the first two years Pfeifer and Seattle emcee/producer Mike Champoux hosted, sponsored, and performed at over 100 shows all while still in school and working two part-time jobs. M-Pyre met The Solution around this time and sent the youngin’ three beats to choose from. T.S. spit over every single beat and their friendship has since blossomed into an effortless relationship of music creation. Banding together in 2011 to create the best music possible, T.S and M-Pyre are ready to become a force in the Northwest and beyond.
